Admissions

For details about our fees, funding and voluntary consumables contribution please see our Fees & Funding page.

  • We are delighted that you are considering our pre-school for your child.

Our aim is to provide a warm, welcoming and stimulating environment where children feel safe, valued and supported in their learning and development.

We welcome children from 2 years to school age and offer both funded and non-funded childcare places, subject to availability.

  • If you would like your child to attend our pre-school, the first step is to complete a registration form.

You can request a form by:

    • Speaking to a member of staff
    • Emailing adminoffice.lfpreschool@btinternet.com or calling the pre-school on 01264 737735

Once we receive your registration form, we will contact you to confirm availability and discuss your child’s start date.

In some cases, we may operate a waiting list if sessions are full.

  • Our admissions process usually follows these steps:

    1. Registration Form Submitted
Parents complete a registration form providing basic details about their child.

    2. Place Offered
We will confirm whether a place is available and discuss preferred sessions.

    3. Funding Information
If you are eligible for funded childcare, we will ask for your funding code and complete the required parent declaration form.

    4. Start Date Arranged
A start date and sessions will be agreed with parents.

    5. Settling-in Sessions
Children will be offered settling-in sessions to help them become familiar with the setting.

  • We offer Government funded childcare places through Hampshire County Council.

Depending on eligibility, families may be able to access:

15 hours per week for all 3 and 4 year olds
Up to 30 hours per week for eligible working families
    • Funded places for eligible 2 year olds and younger children

Parents must apply for funding through the government childcare service and provide their eligibility code where required.

Further details about our fees and funding can be found on our Fees & Funding page.

  • Starting pre-school is an important step for both children and parents.

We offer settling-in sessions to help children become comfortable in the new environment and build relationships with staff and other children.

Every child settles in at their own pace and we work closely with families to ensure the transition is as smooth and positive as possible.

  • We believe that strong partnerships with parents and carers are essential to supporting children’s learning and wellbeing.

    We encourage parents to:

    • Share information about their child’s interests and needs
    • Speak to staff about any concerns or questions
    • Take part in pre-school events and activities

By working together we can ensure every child has the best possible start.

Visiting the Pre-school

We warmly welcome families to visit the pre-school before registering their child.

What your child may need

All children are required to wear the Little Fingers polo shirt.  You will receive your child's free polo shirt on acceptance of a place at the pre-school, having paid your registration fee. In order to feel free to explore and experiment with all kinds of materials, including messy ones, it is best to send your child in clothes which are easy to wash and not too new. We have extra polo shirts, long sleeved fleece jumpers and body warmers / gilets with the pre-school logo, to purchase online.  Please contact the Finance and Administration Officer adminoffice.lfpreschool@btinternet.com

Charity Status

In 1993 Little Fingers became a registered charity with its own constitution and an elected management committee.  Without the committee, the pre-school cannot legally operate, so we invite parents and carers to help with events whenever possible and join the committee.
The committee is responsible for reviewing both policy and practice and for the employment and appraisal of staff members. The committee is also responsible for fundraising and managing the finances of the pre-school.  We hold several fundraising events each year and we always welcome any help and new ideas from you.

SEND Local Offer

We are able to provide information for parents or carers of children with special educational needs (SEND).  The local offer provides information on what services children, young people and their families can expect from a range of local agencies, including education, health and social care. Knowing what is out there gives you more choice and therefore more control over what support is right for your child.  Find out more about the Local Offer.

Our Policies can be found at the Pre-school.
